ALS signed “Julia W. Howe,” two pages on two adjoining sheets, 5 x 8, December 17, 1886. Letter to "Mary," in part: "I am sorry and to blame for my delay in replying to your note received some time since. I thought when I received it that I should be able very shortly to send you a copy of the memorial of dear Julia, which contains the best likeness we have…I will send you one of them very soon. There has been extraordinary delay in getting the memorial printed and bound. I have a part of the edition only." Howe adds a postscript to reverse of second integral page. In fine condition.
