Description

American preacher and singer (1940-2010) who shaped the sound of rhythm and blues as one of the founding fathers of soul music in the 1960s; he is best known for the songs 'Cry to Me,' 'If You Need Me,' 'Got to Get You Off My Mind,' 'Down in the Valley,' and 'Everybody Needs Somebody to Love.' Scarce DS, one page, 9.25 x 17, May 25, 1972. AGVA contract concerning an agreement between Don Robey and Solomon Burke, in which the latter agrees to perform two shows at The Showcase in Houston, Texas, on July 1, 1972. Signed at the conclusion in black ballpoint by Burke, who also signs on the attached rider. In fine condition.
