Description

Postmaster general in the Harding administration (1879-1954) who later headed the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America, in which capacity he oversaw enforcement of the notorious 'Production Code' that imposed strict censorship guidelines on all Hollywood films for decades. ALS signed “Will H. Hays,” one page, 8.5 x 11, Hays & Hays law firm letterhead, April 14, 1924. Letter to "Mr. Blodgett," in full: "I have your note requesting that I send you a line referring to President Harding. In his inaugural address he said, 'Service is the supreme commitment of life.' Nothing truer was ever spoken—and President Harding gave his life for service." In very good to fine condition, with several horizontal folds, and toning along the edges from old mounting residue on the reverse.
