TLS as president, one page, 7 x 9, White House letterhead, September 24, 1947. Letter to the Hon. Margaret Chase Smith, the first woman to serve in both houses of Congress, in full: "I appreciated very much your letter of September seventh and I have no comments to make on the Passamoquoddy Power Project, although while I was in the Congress I did everything I possibly could to promote that project along with the Florida Ship canal. Neither of them have yet been realized but that may come about sometime in the future." In fine condition, with a small smudge to the down stroke of the "y" in the signature. A fantastic piece of correspondence between two of the great American politicians of the 20th century.
