Description

Wife of King-Emperor George V and queen of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions (1867-1953). ALS signed “May,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.75 x 7.5, Marlborough House letterhead, September 29, 1938. Letter to Dorothy, Marchioness of Cambridge, in full: "I am so sorry to hear from Mary of your poor Mary's fall and that she has hurt her chin and broken some of her teeth. Please write and tell me how the dear child is going on for I feel much distressed at the accident. I had a very pleasant 4 days at Badminton and was sorry to hear to have to come back on account of the crisis—One can only hope and pray that the meeting in Munich today will be successful and that negotiations may commence for a peaceful solution. Love to you & George from yr. affect. Aunt." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original black-bordered mailing envelope addressed in her own hand.
