Description

ALS signed “Ira,” one page, 8.5 x 11, personal letterhead, February 16, 1968. Letter to Sam, presumably his accountant, in part: "A. In the list of dividends I received in '67 one item was: New Dawn Music Corp, $7,500. Today's mail brings the information that this amount should be reduced to $6,738.25 (Copy of letter is attached.) B. Meanwhile, I'm still waiting to hear from New World Music Corp. re their $35,000. dividend and how much of that amount is taxable. C. Most of my Forms 1099 are in and O. K.; only a couple still to arrive." Gershwin adds his first initial, "I," to a humorous poetic postscript: "Quatrain to a Certain Gent in the West Indies, I hate to bellyache a / Lot about those lots in Jamaica; / But—Mr. A. F. Dougal—Please! / What about my 29 G's?" In fine condition, with a light paperclip impression to the top edge. An amusing and decidedly attractively penned letter.
