American military figure (1822-1866) who served as assistant adjutant general of the Union's Army of the Potomac during the Civil War. Three Civil War-dated DSs, signed “S. Williams,” each one page, 7.75 x 10, dated October-December 1861. Special Orders issued from the headquarters of the Army of the Potomac, including an assignment for recruiting service, the approval of a leave of absence, and the discharge of a sergeant major. In overall fine condition. Accompanied by two additional documents from the same period not signed by Williams.
