Description

New Hampshire’s second governor (1741-1819), signer of the Constitution, and president pro tempore of the US Senate under George Washington. Partly-printed DS, one page, 14 x 11.75, June 7, 1808. As governor of New Hampshire, Langdon appoints Jesse Lane as "a Justice of the Peace for the County of Cheshire." Boldly signed at the conclusion by Governor Langdon, and countersigned by Philip Carrigain as secretary. The white paper seal affixed to the upper left remains fully intact. In very good to fine condition, with intersecting folds, scattered creasing, and light toning.
