Versatile American jazz drummer (1910-1955) who made the transition from early swing into bebop. Vintage matte-finish 8.25 x 10.75 photo of Catlett behind his drum kit, signed in the lower border in blue ballpoint, "Big Sid Catlett." Reverse bears a Studio Chadel copyright stamp. In very good condition, with trimmed edges, old adhesive residue in the lower border, and two small surface dents (a small one touching his chin and a larger one to his coat sleeve). Catlett is rare in any format.
