American jazz double-bassist (1923-2002), who is best known for his work with Louis Armstrong. He later worked at CBS with Russ Case, and performed with Teddy Wilson's trio and Benny Goodman. Terrific vintage glossy 7.5 x 9.75 publicity photo of Shaw excitedly playing his upright bass, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "My best Wishes, To Willy, Good Luck, Arvell Shaw.” In very good condition, with trimmed edges, and scattered light creasing and surface impressions.
