Confederate major general (1826-1895) who distinguished himself during the Siege of Petersburg. Appealing partly-printed DS, signed “Wm. Mahone,” one page, 11 x 7.25, July 5, 1872. Stock certificate for three shares in the Atlantic, Mississippi, & Ohio Railroad Company, issued to R. D. McIlwaine. Nicely signed at the conclusion in black ink by Mahone as the company’s president. In fine condition.
