Leader of the Czechoslovak independence movement (1884-1948) who was President of Czechoslovakia at the time of Hitler's incursion. Vintage glossy 5 x 7 photo of Benes in a dignified half-length pose, signed in black ink, "Dr. E. Benes, 8. 7. 1933." Reverse bears caption text and an "Agence ROL" stamp. In very good to fine condition, with trimmed borders, tack holes to corners, and moderate creasing. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope and transmittal letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, dated January 9, 1934.
