Description

ALS on the reverse of a 5.75 x 4 postcard of France's Albi Cathedral, June 17, [1967]. Letter to Joyce, in full: "Thank you for your very sweet letter—I am so thankful the play has only been postponed—not cancelled that it makes this stupid rest easier." In fine condition. In May 1967, Leigh was busy rehearsing for Edward Albee's A Delicate Balance when she suffered another bout of tuberculosis. Despite a brief recovery after several weeks of rest, Leigh passed away at the age of 53 on July 8, 1967.
