Description

ALS in pencil, signed “Johnny,” one page, lightly lined, 8.5 x 11, no date but postmarked October 25, 1989. Letter to Barbara DeCicco, daughter of mobster and longtime Gambino capo George DeCicco, in part: "I received your card—the eagles were great—As for the living conditions in here—I'm used to this sort of nonsense and pay it no mind—As for you 'wishing you could change places with me a while,' I know that you mean it, but that would hurt me more than any cancer or other illness could. Believe me Barbara, I feel great! They tell me some of the tests were suspect—well you can't prove it by me as I truly feel terrific. By the by, I just found out via a legal call that I became a grandfather again—my daughter-in-law Lucia, Peter's wife had a boy last night. The 20th, it's their third all boys and our 12th grandchild 10 boys, talk about being lucky, who's better than me?…By the way, you're more than right they can't take my heart, mind and spirit that for sure is impossible—besides they wouldn't know what to do with it." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Gotti’s hand, and signed in the return address area, “Gotti #18261-053.”
