War Department report order for George Bell, in part: "You are hereby informed that the President of the United States has promoted you to the rank of Second Lieutenant in the First Regiment of Artillery in the service of the United States…You will report by letter to the Colonel of your Regiment and to the Head Quarters of the Army (by letter)." Signed at the conclusion by Davis as secretary of war. In fine condition.
