Crisp flown Series 1963 one-dollar bill, signed in red felt tip, "Gus Grissom, GT-3" and "John Young, 3-23-65." Includes the original 11 x 8.5 certificate by Don Wagner, which reads, "This is to certify that the currency with serial number F28752043B did as a matter of fact accompany 'Gus' Grissom & John Young on their three orbit flight, March 23, 1965, in the Gemini Space Craft 'Molly Brown.' Accomplishing the 'Free World's' first two-manned space venture." The certificate is signed in black ballpoint Young, and bears a preprinted signature of Grissom. The bill is in very fine condition; the accompanying certificate is fine, with light toning to the side edges and small three-ring binder dings to the upper and lower edges. Grissom playfully named the spacecraft 'Molly Brown,' referring to the Titanic's 'The Unsinkable Molly Brown.' He hoped to avoid the fate of his Mercury mission, when he nearly drowned after the Liberty Bell 7's hatch accidentally opened after splashdown.
