Hans Pfitzner

Self-proclaimed 'anti-modernist' German composer (1869-1949), best known for his opera Palestrina, based on the life of the famed sixteenth-century composer. Two ALSs in German: one signed "Hans," on a postcard postmarked July 15, 1915, announcing that his opera Palestrina is now "completely finished"; and a letter of recommendation signed "Prof. D. Hans Pfitzner," one page on personal letterhead, no date, in part (translated): "Dorothea Braus is one of my interpreters of my Piano Concerto. She has played it often under my direction and triumphed with it." In overall fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
