John Nixon

Financier and Pennsylvanian official (1733–1808) who served as a militia officer in the American Revolutionary War. Revolutionary War–dated manuscript DS, one page, 8.25 x 2.75, December 14, 1779. Pay order issued to Treasurer David Rittenhouse, in full: “Pay Walter Hall Three Hundred & Sixty pounds being in full for his services to the 13 Inst.” Attractively double-suede-matted with a plaque and portrait to an overall size of 22 x 16. In very good to fine condition, with paper loss along edges and old tape on the reverse showing through along a central vertical separation. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
