Highly respected senior commander of the Union Army (1820–1863) who played a key role in committing the Army of the Potomac to the Battle of Gettysburg, where he was killed at the very start of the battle. Ink signature, “Reply to John F. Reynolds, Maj: Genl. Vols, Comdg” on an off-white 3 x 1.5 lightly-lined slip affixed to a slightly larger sheet. In fine condition, with mounting remnants on the reverse lightly showing through. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
