Description

Kinsey’s new research material

Biologist (1894–1956) who in 1947 founded the Institute for Sex Research at Indiana University, and whose research on human sexuality created the modern field of sexology. Archive of four letters consisting of three ALSs and one TLS, signed “Alfred C. Kinsey,” “Alfred Kinsey,” and “Kinsey,” each one page, dated from 1945 to 1951. All are to Dr. Lester Dearborn, an early marriage counselor. The first, in part: “Many thanks for getting the materials for us….Keep your eyes open for more such materials. We can use a goodly series of them.” The second, in part: “If there is more material, bring it, let me have the bill and I will remit promptly. Hold it all until we meet again in New York…Since seeing you in New York, I have picked up a new copy of 3 Pals—which I think you mentioned—so that is now off your list.” The third, in part: “Many thanks for finding more materials for me. I am well pleased with the other items—barring some poor quality fotography—and trust your selection on this next batch. Enclosed find the check to cover the items…Keep your eyes open for still additional materials.” The final letter, in part: “In connection with the write-up of our data on masturbation in the female, we have had occasion to go through the literature again. I want to tell you again, that I think the chapter you wrote on that subject is one of the best in print. It is remarkably objective and the data are good.” In overall fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
