Outstanding ALS, one page, 4.5 x 7, May 29, 1857. Letter to writer Henry Morley, in part: “Many thanks for your book, which I hope and believe will do exceedingly well. I should be heartily glad to hear of its swamping whole continents of the intolerable rubbish that are called ‘books,’ and are sold to the wretched…travellers.” In fine condition. Accompanied by the hand-embellished album page to which it was previously affixed. Morley was a contributor to several periodicals, including Dickens’s magazines Household Words and All the Year Round. A fabulous, literary–themed letter.
