Description

Lunar Module Malfunction manual signed by the Apollo 13 CDR and LMP

Ring-bound quarters copy of the ‘final change A’ Apollo 13 LM Malfunction Procedures manual, 80 pages plus cardstock covers, 10.5 x 8.5, dated April 1, 1970, signed on the front cover in blue ink, “Used in training for Apollo 13, James Lovell, Commander” and “Fred Haise, Lunar Module Pilot, Apollo 13.” Ink notations on the front cover and title page read “QTRS.” Issued as part number “SKB32100076–386,” the manual consists of a variety of sections related to emergency procedures taken if a malfunction was to occur in the lunar module while on the lunar surface. Includes three original binding rings and a descriptive placard that was used when this checklist was on display at the Kansas Cosmosphere for the 40th Anniversary of Apollo 13. In fine condition. Dated to less than weeks before liftoff, this remarkable manual was used by Lovell and Haise during quarantine prior to the Apollo 13 launch on April 11, 1970. When an oxygen tank exploded a little over two days into the mission, the crew relied on knowledge gleaned from training manuals such as this in order to return to Earth. Pre-certified Zarelli Space Authentication.
