Taft, “Wm. H. Taft,” on an off-white 3.25 x 1 slip clipped from a larger card and framed with an artistic depiction of Taft to an overall size of 15.75 x 22.25; a TLS signed “Wm. H. Taft,” personal letterhead, December 26, 1908, in full: “I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of December 21st, and to thank you for sending me a copy of your annual report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 1908”; and a typed memorandum from Franklin D. Roosevelt, signed “FDR,” embossed State of New York Executive Chamber letterhead, January 7, 1929. Memo to his close friend, the philanthropist Basil O’Connor, in full: “Please send the Foundation check for $250 to Mr. Norris as per inclosed.
