Description

Zebulon Pike

American military captain and explorer (1779–1813) who, at the behest of President Thomas Jefferson, led an expedition through the Louisiana Territory and recorded the discovery of what is now known as Pikes Peak. ADS, signed “Zeb. Pike,” one page both sides, 3.5 x 8, January 25, 1813. Pike approves a payment, in full: “The Ajt. Dept. Qr. Mr. Will Discharge the within account making a proper Deduction for the Damage.” The reverse provides an invoice in another hand for beef, pork, and barrels of flour of which some were “in bad order.” In fine condition, with folds reinforced at edges. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
