Description

John D. Rockefeller

Carbon DS, one page, 8 x 13, October 20, 1900. An unusual legal document headed, “In the matter of the Requisition by Hon Jos. D. Sayers, Governor of the State of Texas, upon Hon. Theodore Roosevelt, Governor of the State of New York, for the surrender of John D. Rockefeller.” Rockefeller testifies that “he has been continuously a resident and inhabitant of the State of New York; that the only time he was ever in the State of Texas was in 1884, when he simply passed through a portion of the State on a railroad train.” Signed at the conclusion by Rockefeller and countersigned by a notary public. In very good condition, with expected document wear, a large band of toning to the right side (passing through his middle initial), and scattered brushing to the text. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
