Wally Pipp

New York Yankees first baseman from 1915 to 1925, best known as the man who lost his job to Lou Gehrig. Ballpoint signature, “To Jim Davis with every good wish—Wally Pipp,” on an off-white 5.5 x 3.25 government postcard postmarked circa 1945. In very good condition, with slight show-through from stamps to reverse, irregular toning, and toned tape remnants to corners from previous display. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
