Revered Spanish cellist and composer (1876–1973) widely regarded as the greatest player in the history of the instrument. Distinguished matte-finish 7 x 9.5 three-quarter length portrait of Casals holding a cigar, affixed to its original 10.25 x 15.75 mount, signed on the mount in pencil. Signed in the lower right corner of the photo in pencil by the photographer, “Kossuth.” In fine condition, with a trimmed left edge to the mount and a small spot of soiling to upper right corner of photo. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
