Description

Prosper Merimee

French dramatist, historian, archaeologist, and short story writer (1803–1870); one of his stories was the basis of the opera Carmen. ALS in French, signed “Pr. Merimee,” one page, 5.25 x 8.25, no date [but May 16, 1869, added in an unknown hand]. Untranslated letter to a friend. In fine condition, with central vertical and horizontal folds, slight soiling, and some office notations. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
