Description

Thomas Moore

Famed Irish poet and songwriter (1779–1852) best known for such verses as ‘The Last Rose of Summer’ and ‘Believe Me If All These Endearing Young Charms.’ ALS, one page, 4.5 x 7, March 12, no year. In part: “It would give me great pleasure to be of use to you, but my means are too limited to afford what (I fear) you most want, and literature is so precarious a pursuit, that I cannot flatter you with much hopes of assistance through that channel. If you could point out anything in which my application to others could serve you, I shall be happy to do whatever I can for you.” Addressed on the reverse of the second integral page in his own hand. In very good condition, with partial separations to expected mailing folds, a tear to top edge, scattered soiling and toning, and a strip of tape to top edge and repaired paper loss to upper right corner of second integral page. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
