John Stuart Mill

British philosopher and civil servant (1806–1873) who was an influential contributor to social theory, political theory, and political economy. ALS signed “J. S. Mill,” one page both sides, 4 x 5, blindstamped personal letterhead, March 31, no year. Letter to a gentleman. In full: “Monday will suit me as will any other day. I can promise to be present, and shall probably speak, but I can not undertake to read a paper or to open the discussion.” In fine condition, with soiling to the lower right corner of the first page. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
