TLS signed “Ike,” one page, 5.75 x 7.75, Columbia University letterhead, October 21, 1950. Letter to Mr. C. J. Schoo. In full: “My thanks to you and Grace for your good wishes on my birthday. I survived the occasion and do not feel a bit older.” Overall creases, scattered soiling, and a few light red marks, otherwise fine condition. Eisenhower had just celebrated his 60th birthday on October 14, and would soon take a prolonged leave of absence from Columbia beginning in December 1950 to assume responsibilities as the the first supreme commander of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
