ADS, signed within the text and on the reverse, “H. Clay,” one page, 7.5 x 4, June 6, 1809. Clay writes, in full: “Six months after date we promise to pay to H. Clay or order Seventy dollars. Witness our hands & seals.” Clay then pens on the reverse: “Credit Ten Dollars, 6 June 1809.” Expertly double-matted and framed with a portrait to an overall size of 14 x 17, with a window on the reverse for viewing the opposing side. Intersecting folds and some mirroring to ink, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
