Letter to Douglas Hoffman, in part: “Each astronaut was issued a personal preference kit which was to be filled with small personal articles to be carried onboard the respective missions. My kit included a very limited supply of medallions and other articles which were flown intentionally for presentation to those especially close to us. Since the number was so small, I am afraid that no surplus exists. I am including for your research collection, however, an Apollo 8 commemorative medallion which was minted from aluminum carried onboard our flight.” [medallion not included] In fine condition, with a pair of faint circular impressions from the medallion Borman had originally included inside the letter.
