Description

Kennedy hopes for “Victory in ’60”

Highly desirable program for a ‘Congressional Victory in ’60’ fundraising dinner held at the University of Notre Dame on April 9, 1960, 12 pages, signed by Kennedy in bold blue ballpoint below an image of himself as senator. Also signed inside by John Brademas. In fine to very fine condition. Accompanied by a souvenir card from the event signed by Brademas. Amidst his own presidential campaign, Kennedy was a featured guest speaker at the dinner. While Kennedy’s own efforts in the state were unsuccessful—Nixon won Indiana with relative ease—Brademas did secure reelection to his congressional seat, where he served as a representative of Indiana's 3rd district from 1959 to 1981. It is also interesting to note that the event was held at Notre Dame, a Catholic university, and at this time JFK was controversially trying to become the first Catholic president. A superb item from the 1960 campaign trail. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
