Ink signature, “Theodore Roosevelt,” on an off-white 3.5 x .5 slip clipped from a check. Affixed to a mat and framed with a color portrait of Roosevelt to an overall size of 11.5 x 14.5. In very good condition, with show-through from toned adhesive to reverse. A provenance note was written on the reverse of the frame by the original owner, in full: “TR signature clipped from check (given to me by Edith Kermit Roosevelt as a ‘thank you’ for serving as her escort at 10/27/40 statue dedication at American Museum of Natural History).” Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
