TLS, one page, 6.5 x 7.75, personal letterhead, October 25, 1915. Letter declining a speaking invitation. In part: “I simply cannot make any other engagements of any kind or sort. If I make an exception in one case I have to make exceptions in scores of other cases.” At the conclusion, Roosevelt adds, in his own hand, “I am really sorry.” In fine condition, with some scattered light toning and an ink notation by the recipient near bottom.
