Actor (1897–1981) discovered by Greta Garbo's mentor Mauritz Stiller (with whom he reportedly had an affair) in the early 1920s. Darkly handsome, he was invited to Hollywood in 1926 and was successful through the early 1930s. Unfortunately, his strong accent limited his success in sound films. Vintage glossy 8 x 10 head-and-shoulders photo, signed vertically in fountain pen, “Sincerely, Nils Asther.” In fine condition, with scattered light creases and surface marks.
