Accepting the resignation of the ambassador to New Zealand

TLS as president, one page, 6.5 x 8.25, White House letterhead, July 26, 1963. Letter to Anthony B. Akers. In part: “In accepting your resignation as Ambassador to New Zealand, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for the splendid job you have done in representing the interests of the United States in this important country. Relations between the United States and New Zealand have never been stronger and I know it is in no small measure due to your unstinting dedication to the pleasant but difficult task of representing our country.” In a handwritten postscript, Kennedy adds, “I want to express my appreciation to the members of your family for their fine service.” Simply matted to an overall size of 10 x 12. In fine condition, with moderate overall toning; all handwriting remains extremely bold. Accompanied by an unsigned photo. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
