Description

Jean de Reszke

Polish tenor (1850-1925) and one of the biggest male opera stars of the late 19th century. Three ALSs, all in French, each signed "Jean de Reszke," one dated June 13, 1899 thanking an admirer for a sent portrait; a postcard dated November 13, 1911, regarding a meeting; and an undated letter to a theatre director in which he wants to refuse to sing in a Polish concert. But as a fellow patriot he doesn't want to decline it himself and Wants Mr. de Chonski to do it for him: "In March I'll pay my tribute in the grand concert on behalf of the St. Casimir charities." In fine condition, with some light soiling to correspondence side of postcard. Accompanied by an unsigned original cabinet photo by Aime Dupont. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
