Description

Dizzy signs a souvenir portrait from the Roxy during his whirlwind US tour after winning the 1934 World Series

Baseball Hall of Famer. A winner of four consecutive National League strikeout crowns, Dean was 30-7 in 1934 (the last National League pitcher to record 30 wins) when he and his brother Paul led the Gashouse Gang to the World Championship. Vintage pearl-finish 8 x 10 photo of Dizzy and Dazzy Dean posing on the dugout steps in their Cardinals uniforms, with “Souvenir of our personal appearance at the Roxy Theatre, New York,” printed along the bottom portion, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To Lou, with best wishes forever, ‘Dizzy’ Dean.” In fine condition, with some scattered light surface marks, creasing to two corners, and a small tear to lower right. After winning the 1934 World Series, the Dean brothers travelled across the country playing ball and making personal appearances, including several dates at the Roxy, for which they were paid $3000. Pre-certified Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
