Early 1876 theatrical receipt from Buffalo Bill

Partly-printed DS, signed “W. F. Cody,” one page, 8 x 2.5, January 8, 1876. receipt from DeBar’s Opera House, filled out in an unknown hand, “Sixteen hundred and thirty eight 93/100 dollars in full for my share of recpts up to date.” Receipt is affixed to an idential size black sheet. In very good condition, with scattered toning and soiling, two small mounting remnants to bottom, mild show-through from printing on reverse, and a couple small paper remnants to body. This document may be related to Cody starring in Ned Buntline’s theatrical production, based on his dime novel Buffalo Bill, the King of Border Men. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
