Hall of Fame baseball player (1894–1951) who played on the Detroit Tigers under Ty Cobb, his manager and mentor. Heilmann won four batting titles between 1921 and 1927 and came within nine hits of hitting .400 each year. After his 17-year playing career ended, he broadcast Tigers games for another 17 years. Bank check, 8.25 x 3, filled out and signed by Heilmann, payable to Collector of Internal Revenue, Detroit Mich. for $229.92, September 3, 1941.
