Film director, screenwriter, and producer (1909–1993) best known as the writer-director of the Oscar-winning All About Eve. AQS, signed “Good luck to all—Joseph L. Mankiewicz, Bedford, N.Y. 10506,” on an 8 x 5.5 card. Mankiewicz paraphrases Bette Davis’ famed quotation from All About Eve. In full: “’Fasten your seatbelts—it’s going to be a bumpy life!’” In fine condition. According to the consignor, he obtained the quotation from Mankiewicz through the mail in the 1980s, sending his request on school letterhead.
