Bare-knuckle boxing champion (1831-1878) and gang member in the 1850s who later became a Democratic state senator and US congressman from New York and member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame. Vintage fountain pen signature “John Morrissey, N. Y.” on an off-white 3.5 x 1.25 card. Matted with a photo of Morrissey in a boxing pose and a small plaque to an overall size of 8.25 x 12.25. In fine condition. One of only a handful of Morrissey examples we have encountered. Pre-certified Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
