Postmaster general in the Harding administration (1879–1954) who later headed the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America, in which capacity he oversaw enforcement of the notorious ‘Production Code’ that imposed strict censorship guidelines on all Hollywood films for decades. Vintage matte-finish 9.5 x 13.5 Harris and Ewing portrait, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To Bill and Capt. New with Sincerest Affections. Will H. Hays.” Creasing, a few surface marks, and clipped corners on the right side, otherwise fine condition. Most of the flaws could be matted out. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
