ALS in French, signed “Lafayette,” one page, 6.25 x 7.75, January 6, 1811. Letter to friends. In part (translated): “Thank you very much for your kind letters, tender wishes and good advice…I have no money, but I rest well and am in good health. I return your kind sentiments and remain sincerely yours.” Reverse of second integral page bears an address panel in another hand. Intersecting folds, one through a single letter of signature, scattered light toning, and a repaired tear to left edge, lightly affecting one word of text, otherwise fine condition.
