American actress (1900–1991) best known for her comic roles in such classics as Mr. Deeds Goes to Town and The More the Merrier. With the notable exceptions of A Foreign Affair and Shane, she effectively retired from the screen in 1944. Attractive and uncommon vintage glossy 8 x 10 photo of Arthur resting her head in her hand, signed in-person in fountain pen. Reverse of photo bears collector’s stamp date of February 17, 1937, the date the signature was acquired. In fine condition, with a few scattered light surface creases, a couple in hairline.
