Johnson (1887–1946), whose famous deadly fastball earned him the nickname 'Big Train,' was one of the first five original Hall of Fame inductees in 1936. In 1999, the Sporting News named him the fourth greatest player-the highest-ranked pitcher-of all time. Handmade collector's mailing envelope, 6.5 x 3.75, signed in the upper left corner in ink, "Walter Johnson." Envelope bears typed collector's notation, address, and a clipped photo, as well as an August 10, 1932, Cleveland, Ohio, postmark. In very good condition, with mild toning and soiling, scattered creasing and wrinkles, and a separated left edge. An interesting example from one of baseball's 'First Five' Hall of Famers. Pre-certified Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
