Mysterious diamond star and secret agent

Baseball catcher (1902-1972) who also served briefly as a spy for the United States. His is said to be the only baseball card on display at the headquarters of the Central Intelligence Agency. Casey Stengel once described Berg as 'the strangest man ever to play baseball.' Handmade collector's mailing envelope, 6.5 x 3.75, signed in the lower left corner in fountain pen, "Moe Berg." Envelope bears typed collector's notation, address, and a clipped photo, as well as an August 8, 1932, Cleveland, Ohio, postmark. In very good condition, with a central vertical fold, a couple light brushes to signature, and some scattered light toning and creasing. Pre-certified Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
