Very rare signed White House card, boldly signed in black ink, “Charles A. Lindbergh.” Pencil notation on reverse in another hand reads, “Monday took lunch with the President Oct. 17, 1927.” In fine condition, with a bit of scattered light toning and soiling, and a few trivial creases near top edge. Accompanied by a White House card signed in black ink by Calvin Coolidge. This card shows uniform toning, and a mounting remnant to top left corner. Consignor notes this Lindbergh’s card was taken and signed during a lunch meeting with Coolidge after Lindbergh’s historic 1927 flight.
In an event that garnered much less publicity than his historic journey from New York to Paris, Lindbergh flew the Spirit of St. Louis to the nation’s capital and had lunch with President Coolidge. It was during that meeting—one that the media knew nothing about until after it had taken place—that another attendee seized the opportunity to secure the autographs of both the chief executive and the history-making pilot. An amazing, possibly one-of-a-kind item. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
